In every city there will always be a hidden art or maybe icons and master pieces, Kuwait started it’s development after the discovery and utilization of oil income and that is around the early 50’s, most of Kuwait achievements are made true between the 60’s and 80’s. In 1976
Kuwait commissioned a Scandinavian firm called VVB to design a huge water tanks to keep domestic use water. Because
Kuwait is hot, arid and desert area water is scares so the need to such structures was a necessity. The firm developed the design based on the concept of palm trees and it is a metaphor to the source of life at this area which is water and dates.

Nowadays these water tank stand for more than being functional they actually became a landmark and part of the image of
Kuwait. The main purpose of my post is not the history of the water tank but the recent treatment to them, I noticed recently that the government are trying to add some lights and decoration to those tanks which I thick is cheap in term of design and they ruin the original firm concept instead of highlighting it.
